Anglicaans godsdienstonderwijs in Vlaanderen en Brussel voor het lager en secundair onderwijs

U weet wellicht dat in Vlaanderen, Anglicaans godsdienstonderwijs deel uitmaakt van het officiële leerplan als één van de verplichte vakken op school? Anglicanisme is één van de zeven verschillende levensbeschouwingen die gekozen kunnen worden.  Ouders kunnen dus Anglicaans godsdienstonderwijs als vak kiezen voor hun kinderen in alle scholen van het Nederlandstalig gemeentelijk of gemeenschapsonderwijs zowel in de lagere school als in de middelbare school in geheel Vlaanderen en Brussel Hoofdstedelijk Gewest. De taal waarin het vak wordt gegeven is Nederlands. (Deze wetgeving is niet van toepassing in het Waals Gewest noch voor de Franstalige scholen die onder de Waalse regelingen vallen, waar Anglicaans godsdienstonderwijs geen deel uitmaakt van de erkende confessionele godsdiensten voor levensbeschouwelijke vakken op scholen).

Leerkrachten anglicaans godsdienst (AGO) zijn vakgericht opgeleid en  pedagogisch  getraind. AGO wordt door Vlaams Gemeenschapsgeld ondersteund maar wordt gecoördineerd door het AGO Comité in België, een instantie die bestaat uit Anglicaanse geestelijken en leken en die belast is met alle aspecten van de syllabus, lerarenopleiding, lerarennominatie, lerareninspectie enz.

 

 

Anglican religious education in Flanders and Brussels in primary and secondary schools

Did you know that in the Flemish region in Belgium, Anglican Religious Education is part of the educational syllabus as one of the compulsory school subjects? Anglicanism is one of 6 categories of denominational religious education, plus non-confessional “laïcité” moral education. Anglican Religious Education can therefore be requested by parents for their children in any communal and state school at primary and secondary level in the Flemish region and in the Flemish education system in Brussels. The teaching language is Flemish. (For historic reasons, this law does not apply in Wallonia or in the French education system in Brussels, where Anglicanism does not feature on the list of recognized denominations for Religious Education in schools.)
Anglican Religious Education (ARE) teachers have all followed subject-oriented and pedagogical training and are highly-qualified to teach. ARE exists with Flemish Region funding, but is managed by the ARE Committee for Belgium, a body which is comprised of Anglican clergy and laity and which handles all aspects of the syllabus, teacher-training, teacher-nomination, teacher-inspection and so forth.
